Qualifications: BE(Mechatronics)(Hons)/B(Computer Science), Associate Member SAE-A

Anna Magennis joined Delta-V Experts in January 2011 whilst completing her degree. Anna graduated from the University of Melbourne with degrees in Engineering (Mechatronics) with honours and Computer Science. Her final year joint major project titled “Evaluation of the PCAST Trans-Tibial Socket” was completed in collaboration with the Vietnamese Training Centre for Orthopaedic Technologists (VIETCOT). The project aimed to investigate and evaluate an innovative socket casting method for below-knee amputees. The project involved an extensive literature review and research, as well as data acquisition using F-SocketTM System in conjunction with the software package Tekscan to measure pressure at the stump-socket interface. The project team travelled to Vietnam to assist in patient trials and were awarded Melbourne University Best Mechanical Engineering Project 2011 3rd Prize. The team also presented at Engineers Australia, Biomedical College Annual Undergraduate Student Presentations.

From April 2013 to October 2014 Anna was employed as a Mechanical Designer by top tier German automotive supplier Continental Automotive Group GmbH in Germany. Continental provides a broad range of products to the automotive industry including brake systems, automotive safety, powertrain and chassis components, and tachographs. Some of Continental’s clients include Volkswagen, Daimler AG, Ford, Volvo, Iveco, Schmitz, Koegel, Freightliner Trucks, BMW, General Motors, Toyota, Honda, Renault, PSA and Porsche. Anna worked in the Interior division in Research and Development and was responsible for designing electromechanical subassemblies using the software package ProEngineer. In particular Anna worked closely in stepper motor design, an essential part of the instrument cluster with over 85 million parts manufactured and distributed worldwide. During her time with Continental, Anna attended training courses both in English and German, including interstate and overseas advanced training courses in ProEngineer, a seminar titled “Kunststoffe fuer Kombiinstrumente” (Plastic Materials for Instrument Clusters), corporate entry programs, and an international Mechanical Designers conference where she was the representative for Germany.

Anna recommenced working with Delta V Experts in June 2015. During her time with Delta-V Experts, Anna has participated and received training in; Technical Drawing, Technical Papers for International Publication, Site Inspections, Survey Equipment, Vehicle Data Downloading, Crash Inspections, WorkSafe Inspections, Technical Specifications, Research, Proof Reading, Calculations, Machinery Inspections, Think Tank Sessions, Product Development, Marketing, Virtual Reconstructions, Vehicle Handling & Testing (assisted with the development of our Steering Robot), Industrial Incidents and Accidents amongst her other Engineering tasks.

In particular, Anna’s work at Delta-V Experts has also involved active investigation, review, research and contribution to the preparation of over 50 traffic collision and workplace incidents reports, mainly in the following areas: workplace incidents and injuries, safe methods of work, occupational health and safety and workplace safety, single vehicle collisions (both light and heavy), multiple vehicle collisions (both light and heavy), pedestrian impacts, bicycle impacts, crashworthiness, collision damage, industrial collisions/incidents, road design issues, reconstructive testing and insurance claims.

Anna has attended over 50 site and vehicle inspections. The sites and cars were inspected, photographed and measured. Many of these inspections involved the conduction of site and vehicle surveys, mapping this information in 3-dimensional space and producing and presenting the results as clear, concise, scaled and accurate drawings using “Bentley Microstation” software package.

As part of Delta-V Experts ongoing commitment to offering the highest quality of service, Anna regularly attends technical seminars and courses. She also assists with the professional development of undergraduate students from various engineering fields. Anna brings enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to the team. Anna possesses a broad interest range and varied skill set, including fluency in German.
